The Sydney School of Veterinary Science (SSVS) in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney is ranked 1st in Southern hemisphere, and 9th in the world among veterinary schools (QS rankings, 2016). This position is based at the Camperdown (inner city) campus. The SSVS provides a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in veterinary and associated disciplines. The Teaching hospitals provide the clinical learning experience for undergraduate students and staff engaged in professional training programs. The hospitals are commercial centres and provide a range of veterinary services to the public.

In this position the successful applicant will provide anaesthesia services for primary accession, referral and emergency cases as part of the anaesthesia team. The successful applicant will take an active role in the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students and residents at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Sydney. They will be expected to act in a financially responsible manner and to assist in the management of the anaesthesia unit including contribution to the financial viability of the Unit.

Position duties include:

  • providing a high quality anaesthesia service for clinical cases
  • provide clinical instruction to students
  • support residency training programs
  • participate in after-hours, on-call roster

Position requirements include:

  • Specialist qualification with ACVA, ECVAA or ANZCA
  • degree in Veterinary Science registrable in NSW (details available from VPB NSW)
  • experience in multi-person Specialist Small Animal Practice and/or University environment
  • experience in administration duties relevant to the anaesthesia unit

This position is located at Camperdown campus.

Remuneration package: $146,133 p.a. (which includes a base salary $123,484 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).

This position is subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
