Consultant Veterinary Anaesthetist (Full-Time or Part-Time)

Dick White Referrals is looking for a Diplomate in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia to join its team. If you are a Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia, and you would like to match some of the pros of academia (clinical research, supervision and teaching of residents and students), with the financial rewards and caseload (equine and small animals) of private practice, then look no further! This is the chance you have been waiting for.

The ideal candidate is an ACVAA/ECVAA Diplomate, but applications from veterinary surgeons who have completed a residency in veterinary anaesthesia will also be considered. A very attractive salary/benefit package is offered, with salary depending on experience and qualifications. Both part –time and full-time applications will be considered.

Dick White Referrals is a large, still rapidly expanding, small animal referral clinic, with state of the art facilities, including modern anaesthesia workstations with comprehensive haemodynamic and ventilation monitoring, a dedicated ultrasound machine to perform peripheral nerve blocks, non-invasive cardiac output monitoring and a multidisciplinary intensive care unit. We are conveniently located in Cambridgeshire, between Newmarket, the home of horse racing, and Cambridge, with its world-renowned University and amenities. London is only 45 minutes of train journey from Cambridge and Stansted Airport is only 30 minutes of driving from Newmarket. The historical city of Ely, with its beautiful Cathedral, and the market town of Bury St Edmunds are nearby, with the coast also being easily reachable. The strategic location in this will satisfy people loving countryside/small villages and large towns/cities. Finally, the weather in East of England is renowned to be mild compared to the rest of England, so you may even need to use suntan lotion in summer!

Caseload includes soft tissue surgery, minimally invasive and interventional procedures, orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery (spine and brain surgery), ophthalmic surgery and anaesthesia for advanced diagnostic procedures (MRI and CT, both on site). We also provide in hours anaesthesia service to Newmarket Equine Hospital, one of the largest Equine Referrals in Europe, a partnership that allows us to run a standard residency program.

The current anaesthesia team consists of 5 senior anaesthetists (three of which are Dipl.ECVAA), three residents, three interns and four anaesthesia technicians/nurses. The successful candidate will join a team of 30 specialists in various disciplines, working together to offer the best possible quality of care to small animals and horses. Candidates must be MRCVS, or eligible to register with the RCVS. Anaesthetists participate in a 1:5 out of hours on call rota.

If interested, or for any question, please contact Dr Corletto ( The position will be open until a suitable candidate is recruited.
