We are looking for 1 intern to join our anaesthesia and analgesia service at Pride Veterinary Centre, ideally from December 1st 2019 (later starting dates may be considered).

Pride is a rapidly growing, multidisciplinary private referral hospital located in Derby, United Kingdom. Currently we offer small animal specialist services in: anaesthesia and analgesia, diagnostic imaging, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, internal medicine, oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology and cardiology. The successful candidates will work under direct supervision of anaesthesia specialists (2 ECVAA, 1 ACVAA Diplomates and 1 ECVAA-resident trained fellow) to provide anaesthesia and analgesia service for varied surgical and diagnostic procedures. Occasionally, we will see small exotic patients for specialist anaesthesia and there is opportunity to spend some time in externships elsewhere.

Pride Veterinary Centre is located at the edge of Derby city centre with good transport links to major cities via road and rail network. East Midlands Airport and Birmingham International Airport offer convenient access to domestic and international destinations. You are very welcome to visit the hospital and spend some time with the team.

We are ideally looking for candidates that have at least 1-2 years of clinical experience in general practice (preferably small animal) or have taken part in a rotating internship. Although desire to pursue a residency is not a requirement, this internship program is aimed at preparing the candidate for a residency. The success chance of our past anaesthesia interns in securing a residency position (ECVAA and ACVAA) has been high.

The applicants must also be a member of the RCVS prior to working in the UK. Additional desired skills are good English language skills and communication skills, punctuality, ability to work and think under pressure, good interpersonal skills and, of course, enthusiasm for anaesthesia and analgesia.
