About Us

Hamilton Specialist Referrals (HSR) is a state-of-the-art, independent specialist veterinary referral hospital based near the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire border. Established in 2018 and originally orthopaedic and neurology-based, we now also offer services in soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, advanced imaging and cardiology.

All our specialists are either European boarded or board-eligible, and all services are supported by two European boarded anaesthetists. We have an ECVN recognised residency programme in place and are in the process of gaining approval for an ECVS training programme. HSR offers the most cutting-edge investigations and treatments, with both a 1.5 Tesla MRI and a CT-scanner on site; and all disciplines work closely with the in-house physiotherapy department.

We deliver world-class, exemplary clinical services, but with a clear focus on the people that make that a reality. By nurturing our workforce, we can offer the very best services to the pets entrusted into our care and to their owners. We employ a wide range of workplace measures to ensure our staff feel happy, valued and able to fulfil their potential.

About the Role

As part of our structured growth plan we are now seeking a third anaesthetist to join our Anaesthesia Team. The work consists of pre-anaesthetic assessment of all patients requiring either general anaesthesia or sedation and designing individual-tailored anaesthetic plans; and supervision of interns and nurses monitoring anaesthesia and sedation. The higher risk or more challenging patients are directly anaesthetised by one of the anaesthetists with support of a nurse. Use of (ultrasound guided) locoregional techniques is positively facilitated. The anaesthetists are actively involved in the peri-operative care, including post-operative analgesia and (intensive) care. Provision of in house CPD for nurses and interns is highly appreciated and encouraged.
